Vietnam US Clothing Exports Set for Eventual Zero Tariff Rating as TPP Signing Looms

The Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement is set to be signed on 4 February in New Zealand. This is the ratification of a deal concluded in October 2015 by the 12 parties to the initiative (Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam and the US). The deal has a particular significance for Vietnam which could ultimately see its qualifying garment exports subject to low to zero tariffs in the US market.
