SINGAPORE: Customs Department Issues Guidance on Usage of New Terminal Building Gate in Pasir Panjang Free Trade Zone

Traders utilising the newly completed Pasir Panjang Terminal Building Gate 3 (PPTB G3), located within Pasir Panjang Free Trade Zone (PPZ), are required to specify this choice as “PPZ” in either of the “Place of Release” or “Place of Receipt” fields on respective export and import permit applications[1].

PPTB G3 will formally open its doors and begin accepting limited incoming and outgoing containerised cargo from 28 September. For import or export of non-containerised cargo, traders will have to continue to use the existing PPT G4. Traders using Pasir Panjang Terminal Gate 4 (PPT G4) can continue to specify “PPZ” for goods exiting or entering the facility.

As part of a continual effort by Singapore authorities to maintain their competitive edge as a regional trading hub, the introduction of PPTB G3 in PPZ is projected to reduce congestion and decrease shipping times. PPTB G3 is scheduled to be brought into full operation in 2017.
